The Bee Gees' earliest hits ("New York Mining Disaster 1941," "To Love Somebody") were melancholy psychedelia, and their first U.S. But that multiplatinum triumph was just the tip of the iceberg: Australian brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb were massively successful songwriters for decades. He joined the environmental studies faculty in 2014. Through his teaching, Fink has also been able to give students practical life lessons and combine his two loves: writing and the outdoors. 8/9/2023 0 Comments Google earth multitouch![]() ![]() Google's highlighted locations, like Dubai, look a lot better and play out like a game of SimCity. Some places, like New York City, appear hopelessly blurry, even when you set the timer to 2020. Google Earth Timelapse doesn't work well across the entire world just yet. With Timelapse open, you'll get a big panel on the right side with a timeline from 1984 to today, and a few shortcuts to places Google says are particularly interesting. To access the timeline, open up Google Earth on the web, click on the navigation ship's wheel icon, and press the big "Timelapse in Google Earth" button-or just go to g.co/timelapse. It took more than two million processing hours across thousands of machines in Google Cloud to compile 20 petabytes of satellite imagery into a single 4.4 terapixel-sized video mosaic-that’s the equivalent of 530,000 videos in 4K resolution! ![]() To add animated Timelapse imagery to Google Earth, we gathered more than 24 million satellite images from 1984 to 2020, representing quadrillions of pixels. Making a planet-sized timelapse video required a significant amount of what we call “pixel crunching” in Earth Engine, Google's cloud platform for geospatial analysis. The company explains what it took to make Timelapse happen: Luckily, Google happens to have some really big computers to handle the load. The company had to get clouds out of the way, correct images for perspective, and ensure seamless transitioning through zoom levels. The program maps the Earth by superimposing satellite images, aerial photography, and GIS data onto a 3D globe, allowing users to see cities and landscapes from various angles. Google Earth Timelapse isn't just a huge amount of data properly mapping it across the globe means correcting the images for artifacts and problems. Google Earth is a computer program that renders a 3D representation of Earth based primarily on satellite imagery. Now, Google has mapped all this data across the 3D Google Earth globe, where you can watch cities being built, forests being cut down, and glaciers receding. ![]() Google Earth Timelapse has been around for years as part of Google Earth Engine (which is a totally separate interface from Google Earth it's a weird Google branding thing), but it was previously only available in 2D. It kept me jittery and on edge most of way through, and even delivered some nervous. MOVIE REVIEW Stir of Echoes is The Sixth Sense's neglected little brother, but sometimes the little brother has just as big of punch. As a horror-thriller, Stir of Echoes delivers the goods for the most part. Plagued by searing headaches, horrific visions and fear that his family is in grave danger, Tom finds himself compelled to seek the source of the visions, no matter the cost. Over time, Tom becomes obsessed with the notion that there is a presence living in his house. What started as a diversion turns disturbing as a posthypnotic suggestion releases a subconscious power Tom didn't even know he possessed, eventually bringing him face to face with a strange, supernatural force and a horrible secret. Is your body still in place within your skin? Not for long, because we’re just one step away from jumping right out of it. Take a look at the changelog and find out how to dive into the deep dark! Keep in mind, this is an experimental snapshot. The sculk vein block generates around the patches of sculk that the catalyst spreads, it’s similar to the glow lichen but with a deep dark twist. It not only glows in the dark but also spreads sculk nearby. For the rest of your sculk décor, take a look at the sculk catalyst. Take a deep breath and carefully, carefully bring the atmospheric beauty that is the sculk block back with you to your base as proof of your heroic antics, or just for decoration. The rest of the blocks in this snapshot aren’t sound sensitive, but you will have to be careful in another way – the only way to get them is by using silk touch. Use silk touch to grab it while staying silent, and hug that wool really close if you get scared. Stay stealthy and bring some wool with you to help muffle your vibrations, but whatever you do, do not step on the sculk sensor. It also detects vibrations, but instead of screaming it emits a redstone signal. So, in the words of my neighbors, keep it down! Another block to be careful around is the sculk sensor. I’m lying – if you so much as cause a vibration near them they will shriek really loudly and, obviously, terrifyingly which in turn summons the warden. These blocks are also arriving in the snapshot, and if you make any noise near them they will write a very stern letter that you can expect in five business days. The only way to avoid the warden is to stay stealthy, or you might set off a skulk shrieker. Or any noise at all, because that will probably be the last thing that you do. It cannot see, but it sure can hear (and smell!) so don’t make any comments that you don’t want to be held accountable for. ![]() The creature that lurks in the deep dark is the warden. First of all, let’s look at what you can expect to find. There are a few things you need to know before you cannonball into this snapshot. Don’t listen to what anyone else tells you. Emphasis on model, I still believe that the strider was based on me. Do you want to mirror my foolishness unquestionable bravery? Of course you do, I am nothing if not a role model. I can only be referring to the warden, who has been released into Minecraft in what could be the most terrifying experimental Java snapshot to date. I am cowering beneath the springs in a space usually reserved for monsters and dust bunnies, two fiends who pale in comparison to the character I just came face to face with. No, I am not snuggly nestled under my covers with a piping hot cup of tea in hand. Dear reader, I am writing to you from the safe shelter that my bed provides. ![]() |
